Each
Taegeuk represents an aspect of the physical world and symbolizes how we live within it.
Taegeuk Il-Jang: Heaven-the
beginning, performed with the greatness of Heaven.
Taegeuk Ee-Jang: Lake-contains treasures and mysteries that can
be found by overcoming our limitations using inner softness and outer firmness.
Taegeuk Sum-Jang: Fire-helps man survive
yet can be dangerous if misused; encourages a sense of justice and ardor for training.
Taegeuk Sar-Jang: Thunder-one
of the most powerful forces in nature symbolizing power and dignity.
Taegeuk Oh-Jang: Wind-gentle yet capable of mass
destruction; both a mighty force and a calmness according to its strengths and weaknesses.
Taegeuk Yuk-Jang: Water-can
move mountains or stand still using incessant flow and softness.
Taegeuk Chil-Jang: Mountain-majestic and firm no
matter the size.
Taegeuk Pal-Jang: Earth-the end of the beginning
Karate Forms (Kata)
These forms represent the Japanese lineage of our system and
are an integral part of Godan Ryuu Ju Jitsu which complements our style.
Taikyoku Shodan: The first of the kata for Shotokan karate-the "first level"
Fukyugata Ni:The is a basic kata that is intended to be done
with kime (tension)-the next level of development in the student.
Heian Godan: A Shotokan Karate kata that emphasizes " a peaceful mind" -the last of the basic kata required for Black
Belt
Tekki Shodan: Uses in-fighting techniques
and grappling-an essential part of the Godan Ryuu System.
